The Protocols of the Elders of Zim

Zion, Shmion, here's what we really think:

1. It's more important to be a mensch than to be right (on).

2. New Year's resolutions are a waste of time. If you'd really wanted to do it, you'd already have done it.

3. If you're uncomfortable with the company you find yourself keeping in defence of your opinions, go back to the beginning and remind yourself why you think what you think.

4. Don't feed beetroot leaves to silkworms. They won't thank you.

5. Goats rock.

6. Autarky is unattainable and undesirable. In this regard, the best is very definitely the enemy of the good. (I would like to make it clear that I am not talking about the dog food.)

7. If you're looking for a way to ease yourself into 2006, you could do worse that listen to any of these:

In the heart of the moon

Neighbourhood

Ayre

Or, the evergreen Sketches of Spain.

My son, E, tells me they're campaigning in Iowa on West Wing, so I have to go now.

Happy New Year.
