Sad news from Mali is the announcement today of the death of guitarist Ali Farka Touré. A long bio is provided here in English by Radio France International.
The album with Toumani Diabaté, In the Heart of the Moon, won the 2006 Grammy for Best Traditional World Music Album. Also well worth several (hundred) listens is this collaboration with Ry Cooder.
